System AMT, Inc. provides consulting services
in MES selection, configuration, and implementation. Our staff will work with you to analyze
your business process and data flow, and develop a strategic plan to
streamline your information. "Manufacturing
Execution Systems deliver information enabling the optimization of production
activities from order launch to finished goods. Using current and accurate
data, MES guides, initiates, responds to, and reports on plant activities as
they occur. The resulting rapid response to changing conditions, coupled with
a focus on reducing non-value-added activities, drives effective plant
operations and processes. MES improves the return on operational assets as
well as on-time delivery, inventory turns, gross margin, and cash flow
performance. MES provides mission-critical information and production
activities across the enterprise and supply chain via bi-directional
communications."
Definition of MES- MESA
International MES functions
support the following: § Resource Allocation and Status o Manages all resources such as machinery, tools, labor skills, materials, and documentation. A detailed report is created of all resources that incorporate history as well as present status. § Operations/Detail Scheduling o Provides sequencing based on priorities, attributes, characteristics, and recipes. The proper scheduling will minimize time loses as well as set up a proper working shift schedule. § Dispatching Production Unit o Manages the flow of production. Dispatch information is presented in the sequence in which the work needs to be done and changes in real time as unexpected events occur. The DPU has the ability to make alterations to the schedule to best work around problems and lost time. § Documentation Control o Controls records/forms for the operation of the process. Recipes, procedures, notes and company documentation are all recorded and held by the system. Information can be stored as well as relayed to different workers. § Data Collection/Acquisition o Provides an interface link to obtain the inter-operational productions and parametric data that populate forms and records attached to the production unit. § Labor Management o Provides up-to-date status of all personnel. It creates time reports that allow for the determination of an employee’s time allocation. § Quality Management o Provides real time analysis of measurements collected during manufacturing to assure quality control. Quality Management identifies problem areas and makes recommendations for alterations to the problem site. § Process Management o Monitors, makes automatic corrections, and makes suggestions to operators on how to adjust for poor productions problems. § Maintenance Management o Directs and schedules the maintenance of machinery and tools to prevent possible shutdowns due to equipment failure. § Product Tracking and Genealogy o Creates a historical record tracking materials, lot numbers, employees, equipment and other information. § Performance Analysis o Provides up-to-the-minute reporting of actual manufacturing operation results and compares them to past results as well as expected results. It includes measurements such as resource utilization, resource availability, product unit cycle time, conformance to schedule, and performance to standards. Site
